Small gestures that bring big changes. This is the motivation found by the pilot of the Porsche Carrera Cup, Werner Neugebauer, to contribute to the environment. In the 2022 season, the 35-year-old decided to “erase” the footprints left on the tracks and will neutralize all the carbon emitted in the races and in his daily life in 2021.

Neugebauer leads the queue of riders in the category who make this compensation independently and accompanies their own Porsche Cup Brazil, which makes its own compensation. To draw attention to the importance of the act, Werner will have the car stickered as “zero carbon” at the opening of the season on April 2 and 3, in Goiânia (GO).

Werner warns of the simplicity and importance of doing carbon neutrality. “I already wanted to do it, but I thought it would be a complicated process, but in the end it is very simple. I invite everyone who has this desire to research and see that the process is much simpler than what we imagine”, said the 2018 and 2019 champion.

“In addition to the track compensation, I also took care of all the carbon emitted in my house. I believe this is a small contribution and an example of what we can do to help the planet and a great example for our children and future generations”, he added.

The method chosen by Neugebauer to neutralize his footprints was the purchase of carbon credits from moss, Brazilian climatech pioneer and leader in the global market for trading carbon credits and environmental solutions in blockchain. through the MCO2 Token, the world’s first truly global blockchain-backed digital green asset, the pilot compensation will benefit projects that contemplate the preservation of the Amazon rainforest.

The inventory carried out by Moss – based on uptime, distances traveled and consumption – points out that the 2021 season requires neutralizing 75 tons of CO2. This figure also includes the compensation of the pilot's team members and all logistics in the previous year.
