Do you know those old manga with many references and a naive and direct mood? This is Dr. Slump.

Dr. Slump is a series of manga written and illustrated by Akira Toriyama, also responsible for the Dragon Ball. The manga was created by the publisher Shueisha in Weekly Shonen Jump magazine from 1980 to 1984 that formed 18 volumes. Later it became an anime by the hands of Toei Animation and aired on Fuji TV from 1981 to 1986, consisting of 243 episodes. Between 1997 and 1999, a remake with 74 episodes was made, as well as several novels, electronic games and animated films.

The series follows the comic adventures of the little robot Arale Norimaki, its creator Senbei Norimaki, and the other residents of the bizarre Vila Pinguim.

The layout is typical of the 1980s. Simple and caricature. But nothing that compromises readers of the 21st century. You can laugh a lot and understand what happens on your pages, which have a quick text mixed with strong references on their posters with other series like Ultraman, Godzilla and etc.

What amuses me the most in this manga, is its story being nonsense. Be totally unpretentious and at the same time remember a little of our daily lives. Dr. Slump it's like us, a person who makes his creations and thinks he's perfect, until everything happens. And they take the form of critical jokes about human nature. Mainly conservative in relation to what defines man and woman.

For all of this to happen, the Doctor Failure (meaning Slump in English), he makes several creations like his inorganic binoculars to see people without clothes, a time travel machine, among many other problems.

It is a manga to be read with the sole intention of laughing and not caring about the often infamous jokes and the double meaning of the characters.

Dr. Slump is aimed at all types of readers, from the oldest to those who are starting in the manga universe now. To be read at home, in transport, wherever. It's guaranteed fun reading!
