The new superhero Marvel Studios already has a name: Shang-Chi, or Master of Kung-Fu, as he is popularly known. Starring Simu Liu, who brings the main character to life, Shang-Chi and the Legend of Ten Rings opens in Brazilian cinemas on September 2nd and tells the story of the first Asian hero of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The film is part of Phase 4 of the MCU and features Shang-Chi, a young Chinese man raised by his father in seclusion, being trained in martial arts. When he has the chance to get in touch with the rest of the world, he realizes that his father is not the humanitarian he claimed to be, and he is forced to rebel. ORIGIN

Shang-Chi's first appearance took place in 1973 in a Marvel comic, in Special Marvel Edition #15. The character in the comics was the son of the famous warrior, sorcerer and crime lord Wenwu, and was trained from an early age to be a combat weapon. When he discovers his father's evil plans, Shang-Chi rebels against him and ally himself with his enemies. In the comics, the character is even responsible for training Spider-Man in martial arts.

POWERS

Shang-Chi is an ordinary human and has no magical powers, only skills that have been honed through years of training. Considered one of the greatest martial arts fighters on Earth, he is familiar with many fighting styles, especially Chinese ones, such as Kung Fu, which earned him the title of Master of Kung-Fu. Thanks to his strength and his chi – an internal energy that helps him not only in combat, but also in controlling his emotions in tense situations – Shang-Chi has become a great hero.

VILLAIN

The great villain of Shang-Chi's story is his own father, Wenwu, who commands the Organization of the Ten Rings. Trained since childhood by this mysterious organization, where he was a member for years, Shang-Chi must confront his past again when he encounters up with the web of intrigue.

TEN RINGS

The legend of the Ten Rings concerns the rings created by an alien race called the Makluans, which were discovered by Wenwu in the wreckage of a spaceship. A different cosmic warrior has been attached to each ring, and each artifact bestows unique powers on the wearer.
