This week (06) the new movie from DC ComicsHarley Quinn: Birds of Prey. With female protagonists and a very girl power script, the new feature also has a director, Cathy Yan. The change has caught the attention of fans since the first images and trailers, which show a very different visual identity from the so-called Suicide Squad predecessor of 2016.

Superheroines and villains dominated the big screen, with female directors and protagonists. After the bets well settled with Wonder Woman in 2017, starring Gal Gadot and directed by Patty Jenkins, the producers realized that the girls also like comics and started to invest in the format. Therefore, the Urban fish selected productions that deserve to be highlighted:

4. Aves de Rapina: Arlequina e sua Emancipação Fantabulosa (DC Comics)

The images of Birds of Prey show a production full of strong women and a feminist script. The Harlequin anti-heroins (Margot Robbie), Huntress (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), Black Canary (Jurnee Smollett-Bell) and Renee Montoya (Rosie Perez) wear clothes consistent with the characters and do not go through “revealing” scenes. A counterpoint to Suicide squad, film directed by David Ayer which also counts Arlequina as one of the main stars, widely criticized for inappropriate close-ups and provocative clothing.

3. Mulher-Maravilha e Mulher-Maravilha 1984 (DC Comics)

One of the pioneers of the girl power format of the heroines in theaters, it was one of the most praised DC Comics films in recent times. Diana, warrior princess of the Amazons, is a strong woman who came to protect helpless men in World War I. Now she returns to the second part, Wonder Woman 1984. Still without a synopsis released, fans expect a setting in the 80s, full Cold War, and the same feminist format.

2. Capitã Marvel (Marvel)

One of the most powerful characters in the Marvel Universe, he was introduced just before the end of the third phase of the MCU. The film shows how she gained the powers, and where she was during the first films of the Avengers franchise (defending the rest of the universe). Directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, was even rejected by the protagonist's feminist statements, Brie Larson. In this way, the production could not be different: full of critics and strong female characters.

1. Viúva Negra (Marvel)

Known for being part of the original lineup of Avengers since 2012, this year the character finally gains the prominence and own production. The film takes place right after the events of Captain America: Civil War, when there is a disagreement between the main ones. Natasha Romanoff (Scarlett Johansson) goes on a mission where he finds his Russian family, showing a little more of the character's mysterious past. Directed by Cate Shortland, the film promises to show that you don't need superpowers, being a man or wearing short clothes to be a superhero.
