After several heartbreaks, disappointments and frustrations, Jen Walters (Tatiana Maslany) seemed to have found his happy ending with Daredevil/Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox). Yes, the long-awaited cameo did happen, but it didn't go the way it was imagined. And it was positive. In previous episodes that have some special participation, we see that the protagonism of the series is given to the illustrious appearances while our protagonist is not the owner of her own show. However, we saw that the presence of Daredevil is more of a supporting role, but it is still an exciting participation, in addition to yielding good sequences and the chemistry between him and Jen is sensational. Unfortunately, with unpleasant scenes the episode ends with a terrible hook to be picked up by the ninth and final episode of the season.

In this eighth and penultimate episode, we see Jennifer defending the case of the Frog-Man who is filing a lawsuit against the tailor who created his malfunctioning suit. However, Jen did not count that Luke Jacobson (Griffin Matthews) would be advised by none other than Matt Murdock, although he has no vision, he has a more than accurate nose to beat our protagonist in the courts.

The eighth episode of She-Hulk managed to be direct, to the point, and much more cohesive than its predecessors – in fact, it should have been that way from the start, but that's okay – and the case that was taken to court was quickly resolved. Soon, it opened up another problem in the series, it didn't explore the premise as it should, leaving plenty of time for some frills like the kidnapping of the tailor by the Frog Man who, frankly, is a pathetic villain on screen.

But this Frog Man imbroglio resulted in beautiful action scenes between Daredevil and She-Hulk against the villain and his henchmen. The reward for the audience was to see the formation of the Jen-Matt couple in a fast way. Maybe that's why the episode was direct and to the point. In an assertive way, this development worked well and the title character is in her best episode, her charisma overflows and I've never seen her so fun – he recalled the first chapter when he teamed up with his cousin and Bruce Banner.

The direction was efficient in creating this chemistry between the characters. It was something natural and seeing Daredevil in a different, less dark outfit, did the character good. The negative point is Jen's acceptance of assuming her alter ego, you can't be 08 or 80. Either she assumes she has super powers and an emerald green alter ego or she swallows her tears and continues being just "Jen". Here, she even wears a specific outfit for her performance as a heroine, making the self-acceptance agenda a little strange because even she doesn't know what she wants. Another uncomfortable point is the cowardly use of breaking the fourth wall, which was not used that much throughout the series and here, we see that it was well used and not by the script but by Jen, other times it was used without much creativity as for cross out the item from "to do list”. Here the use made sense and was well executed.

One of the hooks from the previous episode is picked up here. Remember the awards? So, it's in the final minutes that it happens and will serve as a thread for the last episode. Well, the event proved to be a trap for our protagonist, as the prize was distributed to all the professionals present and the mysterious HulkKing and other members of the Intelligence - followers and not henchmen, as the Hell's Kitchen Demon explained - of Carelessly, they used the event to expose Jen's intimacy with Josh's scoundrel, and with that, a new level of anger was shown by the heroine.

I see a criticism in this arc from the haters group. Here, in exposing Jen's privacy, we see that we women need to be always vigilant because we don't know the real intentions of people who approach. Often, we genuinely surrender and are stabbed in the back. And the damage of a tarnished reputation has disastrous consequences as the end of the episode well represented. If there's something that She-Hulk made clear in its eight episodes, it's its insertion in a sexist scenario. In addition to sharing moments of cuddling with Josh, we heard a chorus of members of the misogynist group shouting “bitch”, as if it wasn't already cruel and inhumane to expose a woman's privacy. Unfortunately, we are always relegated to pejorative adjectives like bitch, slut, whore, naughty and many others.

You have to remember something that makes a lot of sense watching this episode. In the opening chapter, Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo) alerted her cousin about something important: "it's a path of no return when people start seeing you as a monster". At the moment she becomes furious and loses control behaving in the way that everyone expects, like the true monster she "is", the Emerald Giant. And that's enough for her to be in the crosshairs of many weapons.

Who is HulkKing or who is part of the Intelligence is not explained here and will be taken up in the next episode. If Jen's blood sample gave rise to a Red Hulk — he's even mentioned by name when she realizes there's something wrong with the episode — and Intelligence has achieved its goal. Does She-Hulk Will you be able to recover from the low blow you suffered? We won't know for sure until the last episode of the season.

Thunder Wave review
she-hulk-defender-of-heroes-1x08One of the best episodes. I know I said the previous one was the best, but this one managed to surpass its predecessor. We see a charismatic character, a formed couple with incredible chemistry and an interesting ending that could make for a good closing episode. I hope that the hook of this episode manages to have a worthy ending that the protagonist and the series deserve.
