New thriller published by the publisher Intrinsic, The Influencer brings a great discussion about the use of social networks, putting on the agenda the risks and advantages of becoming a public figure on the internet.

written by the couple Collette Lyons and Paul Vlitos, under the pseudonym of Ellery Lloyd, the book presents Emily and Dan, a couple who became a public figure when Emily became a great digital influencer with her account @mama_semfiltro. Talking about her challenges in motherhood, she reaches out to several mothers around the world who relate to her posts and made her brand a huge and profitable success.

Dan is a writer who is at the mercy of his wife's success, as he is not succeeding with his writing and all he can do is support the digital venture that currently pays the household bills. The couple has two children, a two-year-old girl and a few-month-old baby, who increase the success of the mother's account, but in a restrained way, since security is a recurring concern and they avoid a large exposure of the children's data.

Emily is very successful and is well liked by a huge amount of fans. However, there is a person who disapproves of his actions and believes he needs to pay for an action from his past. Seeking justice, this person menacingly pursues Emily.

Narrated in three people each chapter - Emily, Dan and the mystery person -, The Influencer invests in totally different dualities and points of view on each subject, bringing up several relevant discussions about public exposure, parenting, benefits and harms of influencers and several other interesting questions.

The main issue is that Emily constantly lies about her life to maintain her fame, millimetrically designed to do good marketing. These lies underscore the mystery and mistrust necessary to leave curiosity about why she is being stalked, while also showing that it's not that easy to make a living as an influencer, having a team behind the work, extremely well thought out timelines and a constant dedication to maintain the relationship with the followers. The lies are usually revealed by Dan, who promptly denies everything Emily narrated earlier in the chapter.

It is these small behavioral and moral issues that hold the reader throughout the events in The Influencer. The couple's relationship, Emily's professional decisions and the constant battle they live to support and raise their children are the strengths of this plot, which works much better on this character development than the chase itself. Therefore, the work is extremely interesting throughout the daily narrative of the couple and their past, but leaves something to be desired in the resolution of the mystery.

Presenting important issues, with a good narrative and several discussions that show positive and negative sides of the same element, The Influencer is a book that manages to hold the reader from beginning to end, sinning only in the shallow resolution of the mystery, but well thought out in relation to the proposal of the theme.
